A Basketball Photo Story played at

March 10, 2007
The Holy Cross Girl Crusaders put a perfect ending on their perfect basketball season Saturday afternoon in New Britain by
toughing out a 67-58 win over Career Magnet in Central Connecticut State University's Dietrick
Gymnasium. The victory
in the Class M state championship game capped a 26-0 dream year. It was Holy Cross' fourth appearance in a championship
game and it turned out to be the charm. It is also the first Waterbury girls team to win a state title.
Sarah Ciarleglio MVP in the Championship game (18 points) led the Crusaders. Kim Clements and Katie Ciarleglio each added
11 points in the effort. Kelly McKeon, a senior playing her last game, gave a superb effort including six points, four
steals and nine rebounds. The Holy Cross Girls showed what they were made of as they fought off a furious physical comeback
rally by Career in the final quarter. Holy Cross led throughout the game but in the fourth quarter, with the Crusaders up by
10, Career's shooting heated up. Anisha Wilson's bucket capped a 9-1 run and suddenly the Crusaders 10 point lead was down to
2 49-47 with almost 4 minutes to go. Holy Cross answered every Career basket from then on and slowly pulled away with good
foul shooting.
