Old Tyme Fiddler's ConcertSt Leo's Church social hall, Waterbury, CT, April 29, 2005I had never been to a 'Old tyme fiddler's concert'. The flyer posted in the coffee shop I frequent got my curiosity up and I thought it might be a good photo opportunity. It was. Not only was it fun to shoot, it was also just plain fun to be there. The concert was held at St. Leo's Church social hall on April 29, 2005. I would guess that there were about 25-30 musicians there and the hall was standing room only for the audience. I started shooting with the 85mm lens but felt I was being a little too intrusive standing in the front. I switched to the 200mm lens and shot most of my images from the rear of the social hall. The "Connecticut's Bristol Old Tyme Fiddler's Club" is a very active in the area. You can visit their website here. I must say that all the people there went out of their way to accommodate me in the tight quarters and it was an event I thoroughly enjoyed shooting. All of the following images are available gratis to any of the musicians who would like them. Just send me an email and I will email a high resolution version of the image to you. All photos were shot using a Canon 1D MK II with a 85mm f1.2 or 200mm f1.8 lens.
