Connecticut (UConn) vs Buffalo (Bulls) football

The University of Connecticut (UConn) played it's seventh home game of the season against Buffalo at Rentschler Field on November 20, 2004. Senior quarterback Dan Orlovsky played in his final home game and threw for 283 yards. Cornell Brockington ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns as UConn defeated Buffalo 29-0. This win and a win on Thankgiving day at Rutgers will give the Huskies a legitimate chance at a 1st ever bowl bid. The Buffalo win was another sellout at Rentschler Field although there were some empty no-show seats.
This game was all Huskies. The Huskies took the opening kickoff and drove 70 yards scoring when Brockington ran up the middle to put the Huskies on top 7-0 - a lead that was never threated. The next score occurred when kicker Matt Nuzie nailed a 26-yard field goal to give the Huskies a 10-0 lead. UConn capped the first half by scoring when defensive end Shawn Mayne pounced on the Buffalo quaterback P.J. Piskorik in the end zone for a safety.
The UConn defense was outstanding today as it allowed a total of 96 yards of Buffalo offense. The Huskies permitted the Bulls to complete just four passes gaining just 35 yards. Senior linebacker Alfred Fincher led UConn with 11 tackles. Senior cornerback Justin Perkins snagged his 11th career interception.
