The University of Connecticut Women's Basketball Team played the Miami Hurricanes at the Gampel Pavilion
on February 8, 2004. Diana Taurasi scored 21 points to lead the team as third-ranked Connecticut
defeated 20th ranked Miami, 83-65, before another sellout crowd at Gampel Pavilion. UConn’s seventh
win in a row improves the Huskies' season record to 18-2, 8-1 in the Big East. The Canes slip to 16-4,
5-4 in the conference. It was the 18th consecutive time the Huskies have defeated Miami. The Huskies, despite
a very sloppy 1st half where they committed 19 turnovers, held a comfortable lead at the break. Even though the sloppy
play continued into the second half UConn was able to stretch their lead to 60-35 before coach Auriemma emptied his bench.
The Huskies shot 53% (30 of 57) of their field goal attempts, which helped offset a season high 33 turnovers.
The final score was Connecticut 83 Miami 65. The following photographs attempt to give a picture story of the game.
